Update: 10/1/2019 - 6:30 PM PST
Obiwan has started eating again. I cuddled with him for an hour today. His urine was totally red when they brought him into the visiting room, but went crystal clear while I was holding him - I hope my love helped his kidneys recover! He was purring like crazy and half asleep in my lap. All I could think of was the 63 people who made the moment possible
I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. When they took him back I cried. I'm terrified he won't survive the surgery tomorrow. I already miss him so much it hurts. I'm used to him being in my lap most of the day and losing him has been so heart breaking. I can't stand not seeing him for 24-hours. I can't imagine never seeing him again for the rest of my life.
The vet lowered the deposit to $1200. We had exactly enough money to schedule Obiwan's life-saving surgery tomorrow. This would have been impossible without your support. They have also given us 6 months to pay off the remaining balance. We have received enough donations to save Obiwan's life! Thank you so much for your generosity.
Of course, there is still the chance he won't survive the surgery. It is a very invasive surgery with a lot of risk. We will keep you updated and send an email when we know that he is definitively out of the woods.
We will have paid a total of $5000 in bills when all is said and done, so we'd really appreciate it if you would still help us reach our goal. We have a house full of 6 rescued animals, and we need our rainy day fund replenished ASAP in case anything happens again! We have absolutely no personal savings left and we'll be living paycheck to paycheck for a a few months.
There will be no need for us to resale the equipment. All you need to do is wait a few more weeks for the new products to come out! We have a lot of research and developing to do. We will be testing a wide variety of materials to find the ones that are the best quality and most durable. We also need practice to make sure we get colors right, etc, and are prepared to fulfill orders in a timely manner.
The new products are VERY exciting, you are going to love them!

We just visited Obiwan at the vet. Emotionally, he is doing so much better. He is as loving and sweet as ever. However, physically he isn't doing so well. There is still a lot of blood in his urine. He needs to have a second operation on Wednesday, which will cost an additional $2500.
If we don't receive at least enough for a down payment ($1500 more or $2300 in donations total ) by Tuesday night, we will be forced to put the new equipment on an eBay auction. With your support, we can save Obiwan and come out with the new products as planned. Thank you so much for the support so far. This is the first time I've ever really asked for help in my life. I didn't expect to get much of a response, but you guys have amazed me! I appreciate every donation so much and the Obiwan patches will be ready to ship tomorrow. |
Obiwan Kenobe was my only hope for two years, now I need you to be his.
Hi, this is Bri with Mutiny Shop. Meet my best friend, Obiwan. I adopted a stray cat in 2013 and she was pregnant with this little fella. In 2016, my long-term boyfriend and I broke up. At the same time, my service dog (a golden retriever named Kimber) was stolen.
Kimber, Gimli and Obiwan were all that I had in the world. I grew up in an abusive family and I was homeless at 18. I had re-settled from Utah to Las Vegas, and had only one friend in the entire city (and they had a busy full-time job).
I had roommates, but they let Gimli outside and she was hit by a car. I evicted them (they also hadn't paid rent for three months) and then it was just Obiwan and me for two years.

He is the sweetest most loving cat in the world. He spends most of the day in my lap while I work at the computer. Every animal in our now big animal family loves Obiwan the most. He's the old and wise one that everyone looks up to. He cuddles with everyone. He is the glue that keeps our family together. I can't even begin to imagine life without him.
Last night we had to rush Obiwan to an animal Emergency Room. He had a urethral blockage. We were told that if we couldn't pay $1500 they would strongly recommend euthanasia. So we spent all the cash we had in the personal bank account. Today he was transported to our regular vet for a 3 day hospital stay. I had to borrow the $1000 down payment from my Mom, but she needs it back within a few days. We will also need to pay at least another $1000 when we pick him up. The real problem is that another crystal that could re-block his urethra. They said the crystals are the worst size possible. Just barely small enough to enter the urethra, which makes them so large it is likely to re-occur. In an emergency, if you don't have the cash to pay for your pet right at that moment, you will be forced to Euthanize them. If a blockage re-occurs in the next three days there is no possible way we could get the cash in time for a second operation. I applied for Care Credit but was denied. Donations made through PayPal will directly enter our PayPal account and become immediately available for use via our PayPal Debit Card. Why don't we have the money? It's very bad timing for us. We were in the middle of investing a great deal of money into new machinery for the business. We can attempt to sell all the new machinery within the next three days to have the money to save Obiwan. However, there is a very good chance we won't be able to sell the machinery at a high enough price to cover the cost within such a short amount of time (as we'd have to mark down the resell price a great deal). Yes, we did have a rainy day fund saved for our pets. However, we just barely emptied it to give our parrot, Davy Jones, feather implants. He lost his ability to fly in an accident and we had new feathers implanted so he could fly. He is only 5 months old and we didn't want him to spend his entire childhood flightless. The operation took place last week. |
Two years ago, we underwent a negative SEO attack that removed us from Google for all search terms either than Mutiny Shop. We were the first result for "custom patches" at the time. This devastated our business. As the business owner, I worked full-time all year and earned no profit to pay myself anything. Therefore, I completely emptied my savings to survive the year.
Since then I have struggled financially. For the past 6 months things were going really well and I thought I could finally make some major upgrades I've been planning to do for years. I would like to continue coming out with these new products. If we can pay for Obiwan's medical care with donations instead of selling the new machinery, the products will be coming out as planned in 2-4 weeks.
